Dedicated to the memory of Dan Money
This page is a tribute to Dan Money who was a much loved son, brother, boyfriend, friend, athlete and medic. Dan was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer in November 2022 and advised that his disease was not curable.
Despite the awful circumstances, Dan remained the kind, positive and gentle man that his loved ones knew him to be and we want him to be remembered in the same way following his passing. We have set up this page to provide a space where Dan's loved ones can share their thoughts and memories of such an amazing human being. Please feel free to add photos, videos and text which is meaningful to your time spent with and memories of Dan.
This page will remain live so that we can always remember Dan going forwards. If you feel moved to do so, there is a link to donate to Birmingham Hospice, who cared for Dan beautifully in his last days.

KEYNSHAM Hockey Club are used to battling local rivals week in week out across their leagues, but on Sunday February 1 they played a match with a very different purpose.
The club’s mixed team travelled to Birmingham to take part in a friendly fixture held in memory of former player Daniel Money.
Daniel came through the Keynsham Hockey Club academy and went on to play in the club’s men’s teams before leaving for Birmingham University to study medicine. While there, he joined Birmingham MedSoc Hockey Club in 2016 and became their club chair in his fourth year.
After qualifying as a doctor in 2021, Daniel stayed in Birmingham to work as a junior doctor at Heartlands Hospital.
In November 2022, he was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. Daniel lost his brave battle in September 2025.
The friendly match was organised to honour his life, his love of the sport, and the impact he had on everyone around him.
The day was filled with warmth and togetherness, as Keynsham players were welcomed by Daniel’s university friends and teammates, with a large crowd gathering to support both sides.
The Medics ran out 4–1 winners, but the result was secondary to the spirit of the occasion.
Daniel’s family travelled to support Keynsham from the sidelines, including his brother Joe Money, also a keen hockey player, who played for Keynsham on the day. After a fantastic performance, Joe was rightly named player of the match in a fitting tribute to his brother.
Speaking after the match, Katherine Sears, chair of Keynsham Hockey Club, said: “Daniel was a huge part of our club and left a lasting impression on everyone who played with or coached him.
“This day was about celebrating who he was, bringing together two teams that meant so much to him, and showing his family that he will always be part of the Keynsham Hockey Club family. We are incredibly grateful to Birmingham Medics for the warmth and generosity they showed us.”
After the game, players and supporters came together to enjoy homemade cakes and refreshments, sharing memories of Daniel while raising funds for Birmingham Hospice.
Through cake sales, a raffle and donations, over £1,800 was raised on the day.
To further honour Daniel’s legacy, Keynsham Hockey Club have retired his club number, 15, and presented Birmingham Medics with a framed Keynsham shirt to be displayed in the University of Birmingham Medical School.
Keynsham Hockey Club would like to thank the current and alumni members of University of Birmingham MedSoc Hockey Club for their hospitality and hope this trip will become an annual event, ensuring Daniel’s memory, spirit and love of hockey continue to bring people together for years to come.
